Implementation

The Installation of a DAS

  • Installation

    • A design that requires compliance to the NFPA-1221 codes for Public Safety becomes very stringent in the equipment and installation processes. The equipment must meet certain survivability requirements.

    • Headend Equipment room and Vertical Pathway Survivability are 2-hour rated

    • Donor Antenna Isolation: 20db minimum over total gain

    • Surge suppression devices for both AC Power and Donor coax shall be used.

    • Installation personnel MUST be Certified or Licensed in this type of technology

    • Level-1 (crush protection): All cables (coax, fibers, etc.)

    • Level-2 (2-hour fire rated): Equipment room(s) and Vertical chases/conduits

  • Installation personnel MUST be Certified or Licensed in this type of technology

  • All installations shall conform to the current Motorola R-56 Standards and Guidelines for Communication Sites

  • Low Voltage permits, DAS permits, and P.E. Stamps may be required in the jurisdiction and are the responsibility of the implementation team.

  • Test Equipment Calibration

    • All calibrated measuring and test equipment will be calibrated to reference measurement standards, which are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology. No measuring or test equipment device requiring calibration will be used by Motorola Solutions or its Partners in the measuring or testing of equipment, subsystems, or a portion thereof unless it is within its acceptable calibration parameters.

  • R-56 certification is recommended
